Turkmenistan supports constructive dialogue with the UN OHCHR
On March 4, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova met with Matilda Bogner, Regional Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR), in Ashgabat. During the meeting, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan supports a constructive dialogue on human rights based on mutual respect, trust, and consideration of national development circumstances. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030, where human rights are a cross-cutting issue across all areas—from social policy and gender equality to the rule of law. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the UN OHCHR for the appointment of an international expert as Human Rights Advisor to the UN Country Team in Turkmenistan. This decision is intended to strengthen the foundation for joint initiatives and effective dialogue. The parties expressed their willingness to develop human rights mechanisms based on the principles of dignity and inclusiveness, while maintaining their commitment to depoliticizing international interaction.
