Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for a working trip to the Balkan velayat to get acquainted with the progress of work on the development of the region's transport and logistics infrastructure.

At the International Airport of the capital, the leader of the nation was seen off by officials.

After a while, the plane of the President of Turkmenistan landed at the International Airport of the city of Turkmenbashi, where the head of state was met by officials.

From the air harbor, the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov flew by helicopter to Garabogazgol Bay.

The head of state arrived at a road bridge that is thrown across the strait connecting Garabogazgol with the Caspian Sea.

As you know, an important aspect of state policy is the effective use of transport and transit opportunities of our country and cooperation in this area, which is designed to contribute to the dynamic development of the national economy. Possessing an advantageous geographical position - between Europe and Asia - Turkmenistan attaches paramount importance to realizing its potential in these areas in the interests of all states of the region and the continent as a whole.

Having familiarized himself with the state of the facility, as well as the channel of the strait, the President of the country instructed the relevant leaders to announce an international tender for the construction of a new bridge and reconstruction of the road leading to it, which must meet modern requirements.

It should be noted that Garabogazgol Bay is rich in natural resources used in the chemical industry. This is one of the unique places on the planet where, in natural conditions, sodium sulfate and other valuable salt minerals crystallize on an industrial scale.

Touching upon this topic, the head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of a comprehensive and deep scientific study of the chemical reserves and natural features of the bay. In this connection, the leader of the nation noted that scientists of the country's research institutes, together with specialized specialists, should carry out the relevant work, and gave a number of instructions.

Speaking about the need for active industrial development of the mineral and raw materials of the Balkan velayat, as well as other parts of the country, and the creation of modern processing complexes in this region, the leader of the nation emphasized that the construction of the Garabogazkarbamid enterprise was an effective step towards industrialization and diversification of the national economy, a significant stage in the development of the gas chemical industry.

Effective use of rich hydrocarbon and mineral resources, increasing the export of gas chemical products obtained as a result of the active introduction of advanced technologies and scientific achievements - these are the main tasks for the future, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov continued.

At the same time, the construction of a new bridge across the Garabogazgol Strait, which will become an important engineering structure of the Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan international transport route, the reconstruction of the road leading to it, which will be docked with the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway, will significantly increase the throughput of the country's road system, the quality and efficiency of logistics services, expand international transport and transit infrastructure and trade and economic relations with neighboring states.

The head of Turkmenistan stressed that an important requirement in the implementation of this project is the use of advanced experience and innovative technologies.

In this regard, it is necessary to pay special attention to the successful solution of tasks for the consistent integration of our country into the world transport system, connecting roads in the East-West and North-South directions, as well as improving the work of the corresponding infrastructures, the leader of the nation said.

As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, the formation of interstate transit corridors aimed at reviving the Great Silk Road, connecting the Eurasian economic zones are of great importance for reaching the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

All this, first of all, will ensure the effectiveness of the partnership established with the International Road Transport Union, coordinating the common interests of national transport associations, as well as with the program of international cooperation between the European Union and partner countries on the organization of the transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRASEKA), logistics organizations involved in the transportation of goods around the world.

For this, national programs are being consistently implemented for the comprehensive modernization of the material and technical base of all types of transport - road, rail, air, sea.

The infrastructure of this sector is being improved - highways that meet international standards are being laid, railways are being built, new airports and stations are being built, railway and road bridges are being built, connecting not only regions within the country, but also neighboring states, the transport park is regularly replenished with modern technology.

Together with foreign partners, large projects are being implemented to create a combined regional and interregional logistics system, to form interstate transit corridors connecting Central Asia and Europe, the Caspian, Black Sea and Baltic regions, the Middle and Near East, South and Southeast Asia.

These projects, aimed at reviving the Great Silk Road, which connected the peoples of Eurasia for millennia, in the modern historical era open up the broadest prospects for enhancing interstate trade, economic, tourist, cultural and humanitarian ties.

An example of the successful combination of efforts of the neighboring states is the construction of the transnational steel highway Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran, which has become an integral part of the regional and international transport infrastructure.

As the leader of the nation notes, the territories of the five Caspian countries are a natural geographic space connecting Asia with Europe and ensuring the efficient functioning of transport, transit and trade corridors and optimization of freight flows in the East-West and North-South directions.

Constructive initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, which received broad support from the world community, are aimed at intensifying interaction in the transport sector. This is evidenced by the relevant Resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly.

As the head of state noted, the economic strategy of Turkmenistan is based on the implementation of large-scale projects in such areas as energy, industry, transport and trade.

Today, active development of hydrocarbon deposits is underway on the shelf and in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea. At the same time, plants are being built in Primorye for the deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials and the production of such products in demand on world markets as mineral fertilizers, polymers, various types of petroleum products.

In this regard, priority should be given to the formation of a reliable system of environmental protection of the Caspian Sea, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, noting that, as in all parts of the country, new enterprises and industrial facilities being built in this region must fully meet environmental criteria and requirements.

The head of state also stressed that the comprehensive strengthening of traditionally friendly relations with the countries of the Caspian region is one of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, based on the principles of positive neutrality, good neighborliness and fruitful cooperation.

Taking consistent steps in this direction, our country makes a significant contribution to common efforts to develop mutually acceptable solutions to pressing issues of the regional and global agenda, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Turkmenistan regularly puts forward specific proposals designed to help optimize mutually beneficial partnership between the five coastal countries, being a consistent adherent of diversification of trade and economic ties, effective implementation of the huge natural resource, transport, transit, energy and industrial potential that the Caspian region has.

The leader of the nation also ordered a scientifically sound approach to solving the issues of rational use of the natural resources of this corner, including medicinal mineral springs, and the further development of tourism in the region. This will make it possible to use the industrial, transport, transit and tourism potential of our country for the benefit of the people, the head of state said, addressing a number of instructions to the relevant leaders.

Noting the progressive increase in the throughput capacity of the transport and transit corridor in the Balkan velayat, which plays a key role in enhancing partnerships with foreign states, the leader of the nation addressed the relevant leaders with specific instructions to accelerate the development of the project for the construction of the International Airport near the Jebel village.

The main requirements for construction work are a combination of the traditions of national architecture and modern achievements of world practice in this area, high quality and taking into account the ecology of the area, the Turkmen leader emphasized and, wishing success in solving the tasks, left the scene.

Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived at the International Sea Port of the city of Turkmenbashi, where he got acquainted in detail with the activities of the sea harbor.

The commissioning of the modern International Seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi in May 2018 has become a landmark event for all countries of Central Asia and the Caspian basin.

Full-scale use of its capabilities will contribute to the dynamic integration of the states of the region into the international system of economic relations, strengthening the role of Turkmenistan as the largest transport and transit center of the continent.

At present, the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi is an important link in the transport and transit trade corridor connecting Asia and Europe, as well as a large logistics center providing cargo transportation in the East-West and North-South directions.

The total area of the port is more than 1 million 358 thousand square meters, the length of the berth for anchorage of ships is 3 thousand 500 meters, where the necessary conditions have been created for the simultaneous mooring of several cargo and passenger ships.

This, in turn, indicates that the solution of issues related to the formation of a comfortable tourist "climate" on the ecologically clean coast of the Caspian is determined by one of the priority directions of the state strategy of the leader of the nation.

Now NTZ "Avaza", located in one of the most beautiful corners of the Turkmen land, has received recognition as an international center of resort and recreational tourism and cooperation. These achievements should find their visible embodiment through large-scale projects implemented on the seashore, the head of state said.
