A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, participated in the Conference of Heads of Customs Administrations of the European Region, which was held at the World Customs Organization (WCO) headquarters in Brussels. This was reported on the website of the State Customs Service.
As noted in the statement, the annual meeting took place on April 16-17. This year, it was chaired by Megan Shaw, Vice President of the World Customs Organization for the European Region.
The event was attended by heads of customs administrations from countries in the region, representatives of the Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices (RILOs) and the Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB).
During the meeting, participants discussed strengthening customs capacity, enhancing the resilience of customs administrations, and further developing cooperation with the private sector. Particular attention was paid to priority areas of regional cooperation and improving coordination mechanisms. Current WCO initiatives in the region were also discussed, and an overview of the activities of relevant bodies and regional networks was presented.
"The participation of the Turkmenistan delegation in the conference confirms the country's commitment to strengthening international customs cooperation, sharing best practices, and developing the national customs system in line with modern international standards," the statement reads.
