A thematic event "Connecting Continents: Developing Turkmenistan's Transit and Logistics Potential" was held in Brussels to discuss the country's role in developing sustainable and efficient transport connectivity between Europe and Asia, according to the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium.
Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan spoke at the event. The Turkmen side highlighted its successes in modernizing its customs system, including improving border procedures, digitalization, implementing risk management mechanisms, and expanding the capacity of checkpoints.
Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, also addressed the participants with a welcoming address. The diplomat identified transport and logistics as key factors in international economic stability and emphasized the country's infrastructure efforts to strengthen its position as a Eurasian transit hub.
Representatives of European institutions also participated in the discussion: Charlotte Adrian from the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and Christian Terhesch, Member of the European Parliament, who sits on the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET). The European side expressed growing interest in transport connectivity with Central Asia, the development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor, as well as cooperation in logistics and customs administration.
