President of Turkmenistan to participate in Regional Environmental Summit

Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed for the Republic of Kazakhstan on a working visit on April 21. The Head of State will participate in the Regional Environmental Summit to be held there, as well as the next meeting of the Council of Heads of the Founder States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. At the capital's International Airport, the President was seen off by official figures of our country. This was reported by the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" electronic newspaper.

Strengthening relations with the countries of the region is one of the priority directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Giving great importance to the solution of environmental issues, Turkmenistan puts forward concrete initiatives from the high platforms of the United Nations. These include proposals such as the creation of a UN Targeted Environmental Strategy for Central Asia and a Regional Center for technologies related to climate change.

Our country carries out sustainable economic development in coordination with the environmental protection policy. National strategies aimed at the implementation of "green" technologies are being successfully put into practice. Furthermore, Turkmenistan is making active efforts to advance water diplomacy and resolve the Aral issue at the international level.

The plane of the Honorable President landed at the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana. The Head of State was warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, and members of the Turkmen delegation.
