Turkmenistan and Uganda expand cooperation horizons

From May 10 to 15, 2026, a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Ata Serdarov, a Chairman of a Democratic Party, visited Kampala to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This was reported by the press service of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Following the event, the Turkmen delegation was received by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a President of the Republic of Uganda.

During the meeting, held at a Presidential Palace in Entebbe, the President of the Republic of Uganda received a letter of gratitude from a President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the invitation to participate in the ceremony, which also expressed best wishes to the friendly people of Uganda.

During the conversation, the parties noted the great potential for developing and strengthening friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uganda.

Ata Serdarov also met with Richard Todwong, Secretary-General of the country's ruling party. The parties expressed their willingness to establish interparty and interparliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uganda and to exchange experiences.

Furthermore, the Turkmen delegation met at the level of department heads at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda to discuss opportunities for developing relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural spheres.

The parties exchanged views on political consultations planned between the foreign ministries of the two countries and discussed the possibility of organizing business forums and cultural events.
