At a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, held via digital system on August 1, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the results of the work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from January to July of this year.
It was noted that during this period, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took concrete steps to implement the foreign policy of the President of Turkmenistan and to fulfill tasks aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations between our permanently neutral Homeland and foreign states and authoritative organizations.
As is well known, a special role in the development of international cooperation is given to visits and meetings at the highest level. In this regard, it was reported that over the seven months of the current year, visits were organized by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, to the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During this period, the President of Turkmenistan made visits to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2026, meetings of various councils, commissions, and other gatherings and events are being held. In this connection, on May 22, a meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in the capital, for which the heads of the CIS member states' governments arrived in Turkmenistan.
During the period under review, a total of 428 foreign delegations visited our state through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while 761 delegations were sent abroad from Turkmenistan.
From January to July of this year, 287 meetings of various levels were held via the digital system. Additionally, during this period, 1,376 official negotiations and meetings were organized in Turkmenistan jointly with foreign states and international organizations. The treaty and legal framework of our country's international relations was expanded by 137 documents.
As was reported, corresponding work is being carried out for the purpose of holding political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country and the foreign policy agencies of other states.
In addition, during the period under review, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with the UN Secretary-General and his deputies, the President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, and the Executive Secretary of the Organization for the Prohibition of Nuclear Tests (CTBTO).
It was reported that one of the important directions of the neutral Homeland's foreign policy activity is the development of diplomatic relations through embassies of foreign countries.
From January to July 2026, credentials were accepted from newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors to Turkmenistan of the Republic of Chad, the Republic of Indonesia, the Italian Republic, the Republic of Korea, the Argentine Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Finland, the Republic of Kenya, and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, as well as from the UN Resident Coordinator in our country.
Along with this, credentials were presented by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Thailand, the United States of America, Ireland, and the Republic of Maldives, as well as by the Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan to the United Nations and to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, who officially assumed their duties.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that our country attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the states of the world and with authoritative international organizations. In this context, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to continue work on expanding these relations, as well as to properly prepare for the high-level organization of upcoming international events.
