On August 1, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Annayev reported to the Head of State on the results of work completed in the transport and communications sector during the first seven months of the year. During the reporting period, the growth rate of work performed and services rendered across the transport and communications sector reached 114 percent. This was reported by the electronic newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden Age».
By sector, the growth rate for cargo transportation via road, rail, air, sea, and river transport reached 103.6 percent compared to the same period last year, while passenger transportation reached 102.4 percent. At the same time, a growth rate of 107 percent was achieved by the Ministry of Railway Transport, 118.8 percent by the Ministry of Automobile Transport, and 118.5 percent by the "Turkmenhowaellary" State Service.
Steady growth was also recorded in other structures of the transport and communications domain. The growth rate for services provided by the State Service of Maritime and River Transport stood at 102.1 percent, while the Ministry of Communication reached 115.5 percent.
Having listened to the report, the Head of State emphasized the importance of continuing to modernize the material and technical base of the national transport system, as well as boosting passenger and cargo turnover volumes. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice-Chairman to systematically enhance the quality of communication services provided to the public.
