The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a conference dedicated to the international significance of the upcoming session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, as well as the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to declare 2028 as the "Year of International Law." The event was attended by representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, university professors, Turkmen students studying in Tajikistan, and embassy staff. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the conference, participants were provided with detailed information regarding the role of the Halk Maslahaty in the socio-political life of the country. Special attention was drawn to the upcoming session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan scheduled for September 23, 2026, where the results of work done will be summarized, achievements analyzed, and priority tasks for the long-term future determined.
Additionally, the international initiative of the Head of State to declare 2028 as the "Year of International Law" was covered in detail. It was emphasized that the adoption of the relevant Resolution by the UN General Assembly proposed by Turkmenistan, along with its support by a broad group of member states, serves as a clear testament to the country's international prestige.
The conference concluded with a cultural program. As part of it, inspiring musical compositions were performed on the dutar—the national musical instrument of the Turkmen people, included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
