On August 28, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a conference dedicated to the socio-political significance of the upcoming regular meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, scheduled for September 23, 2026, as well as the United Nations General Assembly resolution "2028, Year of International Law," adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
During the speeches, speakers highlighted the significant role of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan in the socio-political life of the country, the consolidation of society, the discussion of matters of national importance, and the determination of strategic priorities for national development.
Special attention was given to the upcoming meeting, which will take place on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. It will serve as an important platform for summing up achievements, considering key directions for the country's further socio-economic development, and defining long-term tasks aimed at strengthening sovereignty, improving public welfare, and ensuring sustainable, steady progress for the nation.
A separate topic of the conference was the international initiative of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to declare 2028 the Year of International Law. It was noted that the relevant resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly, co-sponsored by 78 states, demonstrates broad support from the global community for Turkmenistan's efforts to strengthen international rule of law and foster a culture of dialogue and trust in interstate relations.
The event concluded with a cultural program.
