On August 31, the opening ceremony of the VI World Nomad Games was held at the Bishkek Arena stadium in the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Athletes from more than 100 countries of the world, including Turkmenistan, are taking part in the international sports and cultural event. The program of the Games includes cultural, ethnosport and scientific areas, and the competitions are held in 43 sports. Among them are national wrestling, horse racing, archery, intellectual games and other traditional sports.

The VI World Nomad Games will last from August 31 to September 6. The main events are taking place in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic. As part of the Games, an ethno-village consisting of more than 300 yurts has been created in the Kyrchyn gorge, showcasing the national culture of the Kyrgyz people, decorative and applied arts, and the traditions of the nomadic way of life.

The World Nomad Games are one of the important international events contributing to the broad popularization of the national traditions and customs, cultural heritage and ethnosport disciplines of Central Asia among the world community.
