On September 1, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Mammedov and the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Givi Mikanadze. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed issues of expanding direct ties between educational and scientific institutions of the two countries, the practical implementation of agreements reached, the development of academic mobility, joint educational and scientific programs, as well as exchanges between teachers and students.

The Turkmen side provided information on the reforms being carried out in the country in the sphere of higher and general secondary education, the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence capabilities into the educational process, the development of research activities, and the strengthening of the interconnection between education, science, production and the labor market.

The Georgian side put forward a number of initiatives aimed at the further development of practical cooperation. In particular, it was proposed to expand opportunities for Turkmen students to study at higher education institutions of Georgia, to organize an educational exhibition in Turkmenistan with the participation of Georgian universities, to consider possibilities for supporting and financing joint scientific projects, and to study the issue of opening a branch of one of Georgia's higher education institutions in Turkmenistan.

In the field of youth policy, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing mutual summer camps in Turkmenistan and Georgia, expanding student exchanges, holding meetings of young scientists, and implementing joint educational, scientific and innovative projects.

Special attention was paid to the establishment of a Turkmen-Georgian Working Group on Cooperation in Education. It is envisaged that it will operate at the level of deputy ministers of education of the two countries, will consider specific joint initiatives and projects, and will coordinate the implementation of agreements reached.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education, science and youth policy, the expansion of direct contacts between relevant institutions, and the implementation of specific joint initiatives.
