A national seminar organized as part of the UNDP-GEF Global Project is being held in Ashgabat to update the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and to prepare the Seventh National Report under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.

The event is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the two-day seminar, participants are reviewing the draft National Strategy and Action Plan for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Turkmenistan for 2026–2035, as well as issues related to preparing national reporting under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.

The event is attended by representatives of government bodies, scientific institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Particular attention is being paid to issues of biodiversity conservation, rational use of natural resources, and sustainable development.

Participants also discussed drafts of Turkmenistan's Seventh National Report under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and specialized reports under the Cartagena and Nagoya Protocols.

The seminar is aimed at further strengthening Turkmenistan's international cooperation in the field of environmental protection and ensuring the fulfillment of the country's international obligations in the area of biodiversity conservation.
