On September 3, a meeting took place in The Hague between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Tom Berendsen. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the steady development of Turkmen-Dutch relations and expressed interest in the further expansion of political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
In this context, an exchange of views took place on current issues of the regional and international agenda. The Turkmen side emphasized its commitment to the principles of permanent neutrality, the Charter of the United Nations, and political-diplomatic methods of resolving international issues.
Within the framework of discussing the trade and economic agenda, the parties examined prospects for intensifying business ties and cooperation in such areas as transport and logistics, port infrastructure, agriculture and modern agricultural technologies, energy, high technologies and industrial cooperation. Interest was emphasized in expanding direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of education and the training of diplomatic personnel, including Turkmenistan's long-standing interaction with the Netherlands' Clingendael Institute of International Relations.
The parties also discussed the upcoming World Championship for the Beauty of Akhal-Teke Horses and International Equestrian Competitions to be held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Dutch side welcomed the holding of such a large-scale international event dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses and the rich traditions of Turkmen horse breeding in the country.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual readiness to continue regular dialogue and joint work to further strengthen the multifaceted relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
