The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he participated in the final events of the World Championship in equestrian sport and beauty among Akhal-Teke horses. Hero-Arkadag was presented with the prestigious award “For a Great Contribution to the Development of Horse Breeding” and the corresponding cup. This was reported by the electronic newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The main purpose of the visit was to further enhance the international reputation of the legendary Akhal-Teke horses, develop cooperation with the global equestrian community, and summarize the results of this major international event, which was held in Europe for the first time.

An open meeting of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Association was held at the “Pilbergen” equestrian sports complex in the city of Kronenberg. Addressing the meeting, Hero-Arkadag highlighted the important role of Akhal-Teke horses in world culture, as well as the significance of preserving and developing the rich heritage of Turkmen horse-breeding art. During the meeting, representatives from various countries highly appreciated the special attitude of the Turkmen people towards Akhal-Teke horses and the work carried out in this field, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation.

In his speech, Hero-Arkadag stated that Akhal-Teke horses are not only a national treasure of Turkmenistan but also a symbol of friendship that unites peoples and countries. He noted that the first-ever World Championship of Akhal-Teke horses would open new opportunities for cooperation in the field of horse breeding.

The Head of the European Akhal-Teke Horse Association, Marian Weltewreden, emphasized the great contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the development of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and presented Hero-Arkadag with the prestigious award “For a Great Contribution to the Development of Horse Breeding” and the corresponding cup.

Hero-Arkadag noted that this award was not only a personal recognition but, above all, a symbol of respect and appreciation for the Turkmen people and the world-famous Akhal-Teke horses of Turkmenistan.

As part of the visit, the “Most Beautifully Decorated Horse” competition, international creative contests, exhibitions and cultural events were held. Experts from different countries evaluated the beauty, conformation and unique characteristics of Akhal-Teke horses.

The main winner of the championship was the black horse Yyndam, belonging to the stable of A. Martinez from France. It received the title “World Champion among Akhal-Teke Horses — 2026” and was awarded the main “Grand Prix” prize. Winners were also determined in various categories. Horses belonging to Turkmen, French, Ukrainian and other foreign breeders received prize-winning places.

During the events, exhibitions presenting the national values of the Turkmen people were organized. They featured works dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses, carpet products, jewelry, national clothing and other examples of Turkmen culture. Performances by the national equestrian group “Galkynysh” also gave special significance to the international event. The team’s outstanding performances made a strong impression on the audience.

At the conclusion of the visit, Hero-Arkadag expressed gratitude to the guests who participated in the events held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and invited them to take part in the celebrations dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

The visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the Netherlands and the events held within its framework became an important stage in further strengthening the global reputation of Akhal-Teke horses and widely promoting Turkmen equestrian art.
