Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova held a working meeting with Dmitry Kobytsky, Secretary General of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, on September 11. During the conversation, it was emphasized that the country attaches special importance to expanding and strengthening cooperation within the CIS region based on the principles of Neutrality, as reported by the press service of the legislative body.
The meeting highlighted that the country, pursuing a peaceful "Open Doors" policy, has become a venue for hosting major international events. Special attention was drawn to the significance of sustainable development events planned to take place in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone under Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS and the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in 2026.
The parties confirmed that meetings within the framework of the CIS IPA provide opportunities to advance parliamentary diplomacy and exchange best practices in lawmaking. Views were also exchanged on preparations for the highly significant meeting of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly scheduled for November. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people for creating broad opportunities to foster international cooperation.
