On September 15, as part of the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, summit-level talks were held between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Lee Jae-myung. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
As previously reported, on September 14 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Republic of Korea on a state visit.
…Early in the morning the Head of State visited the National Memorial Complex of the Republic of Korea.
Soldiers of the Guard of Honor were lined up there.
Having honored the memory of Korea's national heroes, the President of Turkmenistan laid a wreath at the foot of the monument.
Then the Head of State, as a sign of respect for the traditions of the Korean people, placed wooden blocks into a special urn. This became evidence of the continuity of the traditions of the Turkmen and Korean peoples, such as honoring the memory of heroes who gave their lives for the bright future of the present and coming generations.
Mournful music was played.
Upon completion of the ceremony honoring the memory of Korea's national heroes, the President of Turkmenistan left a commemorative entry in the Guest Book of Honor and proceeded to the "Cheongwadae" Palace of the President of the Republic of Korea.
On the square in front of the Palace complex, the motorcade of the Head of State was accompanied by an escort of soldiers in traditional national Korean costumes, which was a sign of deep respect for the high-ranking Turkmen guest.
There, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung.
At the "Cheongwadae" Palace, a ceremony for the official reception of the high-ranking Turkmen guest took place.
Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Lee Jae-myung proceeded to a specially designated spot.
The National Anthems of the two countries were played.
The heads of state walked along the ranks of the Guard of Honor, paying tribute to the Banner of the National Army of Korea.
Then the Presidents of the two states were warmly greeted by children holding the State Flags of both countries. The flags of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in the hands of the children became a vivid symbol of the indestructibility of Turkmen-Korean friendship.
Then President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was introduced to the members of the official delegation of the Republic of Korea, and President Lee Jae-myung was introduced to the members of the governmental delegation of our country.
Next, the heads of state proceeded into the "Cheongwadae" Palace.
In the foyer of the Palace, the President of Turkmenistan left a commemorative entry in the Guest Book of Honor.
After the official photograph ceremony against the backdrop of the State Flags of the two countries, a one-on-one meeting took place between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Lee Jae-myung.
Warmly welcoming the high-ranking Turkmen guest, the head of the friendly country thanked him for accepting the invitation and visiting the Republic of Korea, noting with satisfaction the current dynamics of Turkmen-Korean relations, developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect and trust.
Expressing gratitude to President Lee Jae-myung for the invitation to pay a state visit to the Republic of Korea, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit is intended to contribute to the further strengthening of interstate dialogue, and, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm words of greeting and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag.
Addressing reciprocal best wishes to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the President of the Republic of Korea emphasized the enormous contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the development of Korean-Turkmen cooperation.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the consistent expansion of bilateral relations. Today the Republic of Korea, interaction with which is progressively developing on the principles of mutual respect, serves as one of the important partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
The talks then continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations of the two countries.
Once again warmly welcoming the Head of State, President Lee Jae-myung noted with satisfaction that interstate dialogue is developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect and trust. The current state visit of the President of Turkmenistan is a new page in the history of bilateral relations, emphasized the head of the friendly country, expressing confidence that its results would give a powerful impetus to the development of multifaceted cooperation.
Turkmenistan is an economically powerful state possessing colossal natural resources, continued President Lee Jae-myung. As was emphasized, the implementation of large-scale joint projects demonstrates not only a high level of industrial cooperation, but also serves the interests of the two states and their peoples.
Taking the opportunity, the President of the Republic of Korea expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the favorable conditions being created for the fruitful activity of Korean companies on the Turkmen market. In this connection, the interest of the Republic of Korea in further expanding cooperation was confirmed.
President Serdar Berdymukhamedov then, above all on behalf of the delegation of Turkmenistan, thanked him for the invitation to visit the Republic of Korea on a state visit and for the hospitality shown, noting the enormous significance of the first state visit to the Republic of Korea for the development of interstate dialogue.
As was emphasized, a special place in the expansion of Turkmen-Korean relations is given to the visit to Korea in November 2022 by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag, which became an important event in the history of friendly relations between the two countries. At the current stage, Turkmenistan seeks to expand this cooperation in new directions, continued the Head of State.
Our country highly values the support of the Republic of Korea for Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality and international initiatives, said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing that our state, in turn, respects the position of the Republic of Korea on many important issues of the global agenda.
It was emphasized that the Republic of Korea consistently supports the resolutions adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan by the United Nations General Assembly. Our country supports the initiatives of the friendly state.
In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea for its support and co-sponsorship of the Resolution "Year of International Law, 2028," adopted at the proposal of our country by the UN General Assembly.
Next year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. This date, of great significance in the history of the two peoples and countries, is evidence of the consistent development of bilateral cooperation, said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. It was proposed to widely and solemnly celebrate this significant date in both countries, enriching it with qualitatively new content.
A special place is given to cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Our country highly appreciates the activity of Korean companies on the Turkmen market; a number of strategically important projects have been implemented with their participation, and work in this direction continues.
A significant part of public transport in Turkmenistan consists of buses and passenger cars manufactured in Korea. Along with this, cooperation with Korean companies has been established in the field of shipbuilding. In addition, representatives of business circles of the friendly country are taking part in the implementation of the project to create a medical cluster in the city of Arkadag, said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, confirming our country's interest in developing partnership in such areas as investment, trade, energy, industry, the chemical industry, rail transport, artificial intelligence, science and technology, water resources management, and ecology.
Speaking about the significance of the activities of the Turkmen-Korean Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in intensifying trade and economic ties, the head of Turkmenistan noted that great opportunities are opening up for joint work in the transport sphere.
As was emphasized, our country regards the Republic of Korea as an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. At present, Turkmenistan, together with its partners, is creating an extensive network of transport-transit and logistics infrastructure along the East-West and North-South directions. In this connection, the Head of State noted that our country supports the participation of Korean companies in these projects.
Turkmenistan also attaches particular importance to the development of bilateral relations in the humanitarian sphere. Both countries have accumulated extensive experience in holding cultural events with the participation of masters of the arts, and cross Days of Culture are successfully organized. Noting that on September 16 the opening ceremony of the next Days of Turkmen Culture will take place in the Republic of Korea, the Head of State emphasized that our country seeks to develop large-scale cooperation in this area.
The scientific and educational sphere was named an important vector of cooperation. In this connection, emphasis was placed on the existence of great opportunities for expanding partnership in such areas as scientific research, healthcare, sports, and tourism.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the current visit is aimed at expanding and strengthening bilateral relations, and that the talks held confirm the aspiration of both countries for the further development of mutual cooperation. In this context, it was noted that the Turkmen side highly appreciates the results of the visit.
Thanking the Korean side for the fruitful talks and its readiness to strengthen friendship and develop interstate dialogue, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President Lee Jae-myung to pay a visit to Turkmenistan next year and, taking the opportunity, wished peace and prosperity to the people of Korea.

Afterward, on behalf of President Lee Jae-myung, an official reception was held in honor of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
