As part of his state visit to the Republic of Korea, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the first “Central Asia — Republic of Korea” Summit held on September 16 in Seoul. This was reported by the electronic newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The high-level meeting marked the beginning of a new stage in the development of multifaceted cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea. During the summit, the heads of state discussed issues of expanding cooperation in key areas, including transport and logistics, energy, industrial cooperation, advanced technologies, environmental protection, digitalization and other important fields.

At the opening of the summit, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the meeting in bringing cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Korea to a new level.

In his speech, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for the warm hospitality and high level of organization of the summit, noting that this format opens up new opportunities for developing long-term and strategic cooperation among the states. The Head of State emphasized that peace, stability and trust are the key conditions for international development for Turkmenistan, and noted that the country continues to pursue its foreign policy based on the principles of permanent neutrality.

In his address, the President put forward initiatives aimed at developing “smart city” diplomacy, improving urban infrastructure, introducing innovative technologies, and expanding cooperation in the fields of education, science, youth and culture. He also presented proposals to support joint research by young scientists, enhance digital education opportunities and promote cultural exchanges.

During the summit, the heads of state exchanged views on developing economic relations in the region, the efficient use of natural resources, creating new industries, improving transport corridors, and expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence and “green” technologies. Following the meeting, the Seoul Declaration of the first “Central Asia — Republic of Korea” Summit was adopted.

The state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea and his participation in the first “Central Asia — Republic of Korea” Summit confirmed the mutual interest of the two countries and the entire region in developing long-term cooperation that serves their common interests.
