Turkmen delegation takes part in the 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference

A delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry Azat Ovezov, took part in the 70th regular session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held in Vienna from September 14 to 18, 2026. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the delivery of the national statement, the delegation of Turkmenistan congratulated the IAEA on its 70th anniversary and noted that 2026 also marks 10 years since Turkmenistan's accession to the Agency.

Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear and radiation safety, as well as the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology, was emphasized. Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of healthcare, including in the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases, as well as to IAEA support for the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Oncology in Ashgabat.

The delegation also took part in the IAEA Scientific Forum "Rays of Hope: Delivering Cancer Care," dedicated to expanding access to the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases through the application of nuclear science and technology.
