On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan, esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument. Held at this magnificent architectural complex, which symbolizes the country’s statehood, freedom and sovereignty, the ceremony once again highlighted the historic significance of Independence.

Early in the morning on the festive day, the Chairman of the Mejlis, members of the Government, heads of ministries and sectoral agencies, representatives of the military and law enforcement bodies, the mayors of the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, heads of the regions, representatives of public organizations, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, respected elders, students and numerous residents of the capital gathered near the Independence Monument.

The vehicle of the President of Turkmenistan arrived at the Independence Monument, decorated for the celebration, where the Head of State was warmly welcomed by the participants. The National Anthem of Turkmenistan was performed by a military orchestra, after which the President proceeded to the ceremonial area.

Arkadagly Hero-Serdar laid flowers at the Independence Monument, expressing his profound respect for the sacred Independence of the Motherland, as well as the unity and solidarity of the people. Following the example of the Head of State, the participants of the ceremony also laid flowers at the monument. Shortly afterwards, the area in front of the Independence Monument was filled with beautiful floral arrangements, symbolizing the inviolability of the country’s Independence and the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen people.

Over the years of Independence, Turkmenistan has achieved significant progress in all areas. The construction of new cities, settlements and modern villages, the commissioning of industrial complexes, transport infrastructure facilities, as well as social and cultural facilities demonstrate the country’s sustainable development and confident advancement along the path of creation.

In honour of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, opening ceremonies of new facilities were held in various regions of the country. These important events became clear evidence of the growing economic potential, expanding creative opportunities and the successful implementation of state programmes aimed at further improving the living standards of the people.

In his congratulatory address to the nation on the occasion of the country’s main holiday, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that efforts to further strengthen the foundations of Independence and permanent neutrality, as well as ensure the continued development of the country, would be consistently continued.

Festive events dedicated to Independence Day were widely held in all regions of Turkmenistan. In Ashgabat, a ceremonial parade marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s Independence took place on the square in front of the State Tribune Complex.
