In honour of the 35th anniversary of the sacred Independence of Turkmenistan, a military parade and a ceremonial festive procession were held in the capital city of Ashgabat. These large-scale events, organized during the year «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan − the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses», reflected the strength of the state, the unity of the people, commitment to the principles of peace and the achievements attained during the years of Independence.

The President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the celebrations dedicated to the country’s main holiday. The events were also attended by the Chairperson of the Mejlis, members of the Government, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, representatives of ministries and sectoral institutions, leaders of Ashgabat, Arkadag city and the regions, representatives of public organizations, young people, respected elders and numerous citizens.

The ceremonial event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Turkmenistan. The military parade demonstrated the country’s defence capabilities, the preparedness of military personnel and their patriotic spirit. Turkmenistan continues to implement measures aimed at strengthening national defence capabilities, modernizing the activities of military and law enforcement bodies, and improving the professional skills of personnel.

Following the military parade, the festive procession continued. It reflected the achievements of Turkmenistan during the years of Independence, progress in various sectors of the national economy, as well as the country’s economic and social development.

Representatives of state institutions, public organizations, various economic sectors, the fields of education, science, healthcare, culture and sports, young people and creative groups took part in the festive procession. Through their performances, they highlighted the development path of the Independent Motherland, the creative labour of the people and respect for national values.

Over the years of Independence, Turkmenistan has implemented large-scale reforms, built new cities, modern industrial complexes, and social and cultural facilities. Achievements in all sectors of the economy, the improvement of living standards and the growing international prestige of the country are clear results of the opportunities provided by Independence.

During the ceremonial procession, the State Flag of Turkmenistan held a special place. The sacred Flag of the country flew high as a symbol of Independence, permanent neutrality, national unity and commitment to the principles of peace.

The festive programme also showcased the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, national traditions and art. The performances featuring Akhal-Teke horses, creative groups and young participants demonstrated deep respect for the spiritual values of the country.

The military parade and ceremonial festive procession held in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence became a vivid expression of the people’s pride in their state, unity and confidence in the peaceful and creative development of the Motherland.

The celebrations that began in the capital city marked the continuation of festive events held throughout all regions of Turkmenistan.
