Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Russia Discuss Development of Bilateral Cooperation

On October 7, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, on the sidelines of events held as part of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on topical issues of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, as well as on promising areas for further interaction.

The heads of the foreign policy agencies emphasized the importance of regular political and diplomatic dialogue and contacts, which contribute to the further strengthening of friendly and constructive relations between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in the further development of bilateral interaction and in strengthening cooperation within multilateral formats.

During the meeting, the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2027–2028 was signed, providing for the further development of interaction between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries.
