On October 7, in the «Awaza» National Tourist Zone, on the sidelines of events held as part of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov.

During the talks, the parties reviewed the state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Belarusian relations and exchanged views on topical areas of bilateral interaction.

The importance of maintaining regular political dialogue and further strengthening interdepartmental contacts was noted. Special attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties also expressed readiness to continue constructive dialogue and consistently develop mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus.

Upon completion of the meeting, a ceremony was held to sign the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus for 2027–2028. The document is aimed at the further development and systematization of interdepartmental cooperation.
