On October 8, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who arrived in our country to take part in high-level international events held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
The Turkmen leader warmly welcomed the President of the friendly country, thanking him for accepting the invitation to take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States and in the Caspian Environmental Summit. It was noted that the Russian Federation’s participation in these important international events is of particular significance.
“We highly appreciate your personal attention to developing regional cooperation and view the meetings in Avaza as an opportunity for an open exchange of views, the development of joint approaches and the identification of new areas of cooperation,” said the Head of State. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the Russian President’s current visit to Turkmenistan would help further strengthen friendly ties between the two countries.
President Vladimir Putin, thanking his hosts for their hospitality and the invitation to take part in the international events, noted the importance of the events held in Avaza and took the opportunity to convey greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag.
As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan regards the Russian Federation as an important and reliable partner. Strategic cooperation between our countries has a solid foundation and covers a wide range of areas.
Particular importance is attached to developing political and diplomatic interaction. Regular high-level contacts make it possible to find solutions to pressing issues on the bilateral agenda. In this regard, the Head of State expressed confidence that further strengthening bilateral dialogue would help expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Trade and economic cooperation holds an important place in interstate relations. For many years, the Russian Federation has been one of Turkmenistan’s leading trading partners.
Our country has also established an effective mechanism of cooperation with the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and is interested in expanding it further.
In addition, the cultural and humanitarian sphere is an important component of cooperation. In this area, partnership in education, healthcare, science and culture holds a special place.
Confirming our country’s readiness for further comprehensive, multifaceted cooperation with the Russian Federation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that Turkmen-Russian relations would continue to develop for the benefit of the two peoples.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin wished each other good health, prosperity and success in their responsible state activities, and the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia happiness and well-being.
