On October 8, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in our country to take part in high-level events.
The Head of State warmly welcomed his Kazakh counterpart, thanking him for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan to take part in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, and the Caspian Environmental Summit. It was noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan’s participation in these important international events is of particular significance for Turkmenistan.
“We highly appreciate your personal attention to developing regional cooperation and view the current meetings in Avaza as an opportunity for an open exchange of views, the development of joint approaches and the identification of new areas of practical cooperation,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In this regard, he expressed confidence that the Kazakh President’s current visit to Turkmenistan would help further strengthen friendly interstate relations.
Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the great importance of the major event held in Turkmenistan dedicated to pressing issues of interregional cooperation. Warmly congratulating President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the successful holding of the Summit, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan also took the opportunity to convey warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan maintain stable and multifaceted cooperation on regional and international issues. Mutual support for the two countries’ initiatives and proposals within the UN, the OSCE, the ECO and other international and regional organizations is an important vector of interstate partnership.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took the opportunity to thank the Kazakh side for its consistent support of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy course based on the principles of positive neutrality.
The Head of State also noted that he warmly recalls his visit to Astana in April this year to take part in the Regional Environmental Summit and the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State – Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. Thanking President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his hospitality, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his conviction that these meetings gave impetus to the further development of Turkmen-Kazakh relations.
Turkmenistan pays special attention to the consistent expansion and deepening of multifaceted cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan. One of the main areas of bilateral interaction is trade and economic partnership, covering such strategically important sectors as energy, transport and logistics.
The Turkmen leader also noted that humanitarian cooperation, including culture, science and education, is an integral part of interstate dialogue. In this context, he expressed confidence that cultural exchanges between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will continue to expand.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev exchanged best wishes to each other and to the fraternal peoples of both countries.
