Turkmenistan and Armenia Reaffirm Readiness to Deepen Economic and Humanitarian Partnership

On October 8, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit to take part in high-level events in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Warmly welcoming the head of government of the friendly country, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked him for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan to take part in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. The participation of the Republic of Armenia in such an important event is of particular significance.

As the Head of State noted, Turkmenistan highly values the Armenian Prime Minister’s personal attention to developing regional cooperation. The meeting of the Commonwealth’s Council of Heads of State is seen as an opportunity to identify new areas of partnership and implement new projects. In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his conviction that the current visit of the head of the Government of the Republic of Armenia to our country would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations.

Thanking his hosts for the warm welcome and the invitation to the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stressed that hosting such a major forum in Turkmenistan demonstrates the country’s commitment to expanding regional cooperation. The distinguished guest also conveyed warm greetings from President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan to the President of Turkmenistan and to the National Leader of the Turkmen people. The head of the Armenian Government also took the opportunity to convey his own greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

In turn, the Turkmen leader extended his best wishes to the President of Armenia.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov went on to stress that for many years Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia have set an example of successful and constructive cooperation on the international stage, primarily within the UN, as clearly evidenced by their mutual support for initiatives aimed at strengthening universal peace and ensuring sustainable development.

Noting with satisfaction the consistent development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia, the Head of State said that mutual trust, respect, openness and consideration of national interests form the solid foundation of many years of bilateral cooperation.

It was emphasized that the steady development of cooperation is inextricably linked to active political dialogue at the highest level. The Turkmen-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which serves as an effective mechanism for implementing important projects, plays a special role in strengthening this dialogue.

Noting the significant potential for further intensifying trade and economic ties, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed our country’s readiness to implement new promising initiatives.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere is also of great importance in developing the partnership. Our country intends to strengthen these ties by holding Days of Culture, thematic exhibitions and joint scientific forums. This will bring the two peoples even closer together.

Noting Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue expanding cooperation in energy and logistics and to promote the consistent deepening of humanitarian dialogue, the Head of State expressed confidence that relations between the two countries will steadily develop for the benefit of both peoples.

In conclusion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence in the further advancement of constructive interstate cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
