Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed prospects for multifaceted cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in international events held in the national tourist zone “Awaza”. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

The Head of State warmly welcomed the Iranian leader and expressed gratitude for his visit to Turkmenistan. In turn, Masoud Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to him, noted the high level of organisation of international events in Awaza, and emphasised that they would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the states. He also conveyed his warm greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2026 and stressed the importance of Masoud Pezeshkian’s participation in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS. It was also noted that Iran’s participation in the Caspian Environmental Summit would contribute to expanding cooperation in environmental protection and ensuring regional ecological security.

The sides emphasised the importance of further strengthening friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Iran and developing cooperation in trade and economy, energy, transport, agriculture, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as other areas.
