The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, congratulated the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the Day of Turkmen Alabaý, widely celebrated in the memorable year of enhancing the international authority of the Motherland and glorifying the national heritage in the world.
The Hero-Arkadag wished the Head of State further great success in his activities to develop domestic dog breeding as an integral component of the unique cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. The message emphasizes that along with the «heavenly» Akhal-Teke horses and exquisite carpets, the fearless Turkmen alabaý is a national value reflecting the history, spiritual world, and way of life of the Turkmen people. Dog images discovered as a result of archaeological excavations at Altyndepe, Goňurdepe, Nusaý, Jeitun, Pessejikdepe, Şährislam, and other historical sites clearly testify to the ancestors' deep affection for this creature.
As stated in the Message, under the leadership of the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, work on preserving the elite breed — based on the rich experience of folk selection, maintaining purity of blood, and passing it down to future generations in its pristine form—is gaining ever greater momentum. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that Arkadagly Hero-Serdar attaches great importance to the revival and preservation of original dog-breeding traditions and the further improvement of this breed.
The Message cites the establishment of a holiday in honor of the Turkmen alabaý in the national calendar, the holding of the international contest «Ýylyň türkmen edermen alabaýy», exhibitions, and conferences within its framework, as well as the conferral of honorary titles to dog breeders who have made a worthy contribution to improving breeding work and introducing the younger generation to the secrets of training craftsmanship, as confirmation of the success of state efforts in this direction. The opening of specialized centers in Turkmenistan, the improvement of breeding work, the development of veterinary services, and the expansion of international cooperation through the activities of the International Association «Türkmen alabaý itleri» significantly increase the capabilities for breeding purebred alabaýs.
THe Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled the words of the Head of State that, being a universal heritage, Turkmen alabays rightfully belong among the elite breeds in the world. The international recognition of the Turkmen alabaý in the new historical Epoch, according to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, further elevates national pride. The inclusion of the art of breeding Turkmen alabaýs in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as noted in the Message, clearly testifies to the universal recognition of the rich breeding experience of the Turkmen people, the traditions of alabaý breeding, and the special reverence for them.
The Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that the successful solution of tasks for the systematic breeding of alabays using methods of folk selection and modern science will serve the further preservation and wide popularization in the world of the best traditions of the domestic dog-breeding school. The Day of Turkmen Alabaý in the year «Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses», the Message states, acquires special significance.
