On October 28, 2026, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova met with the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Faizali Idizoda on the sidelines of the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States.
The sides noted that, thanks to the efforts of the leaders of the two countries, interstate cooperation is developing successfully on bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as within authoritative international organizations. In their assessment, there are broad opportunities to strengthen and develop these relations through parliamentary diplomacy.
Dunyagozel Gulmanova said that the long-standing friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres are actively developing and growing stronger. She said this is achieved through mutual support for each other’s initiatives, both bilaterally and within international organizations.
It was emphasized that the Resolution «2028 – Year of International Law», adopted at a plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on Turkmenistan’s initiative, will be of great importance. It will help raise the role of international law in the world, ensure global peace and security, and develop effective multilateral cooperation. Dunyagozel Gulmanova expressed special gratitude to the Republic of Tajikistan for its substantial support in the adoption of the Resolution.
The sides also stressed the importance of mutual support for initiatives at international parliamentary platforms, exchange of experience in legislative work, development of ties between inter-parliamentary friendship groups and relevant committees, and organization of reciprocal delegation visits and meetings.
Dunyagozel Gulmanova invited Faizali Idizoda and Tajik parliamentarians to take part in the third Ashgabat Conference «Promoting International Law in the Interests of Dialogue, Trust and Security within the OSCE», in a meeting of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, to be held during Turkmenistan’s 2026 chairmanship of the CIS, and in the third meeting of heads of parliaments of the member countries of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, which will be held in a hybrid format.
