The name of the new leader of Turkmenistan will be announced soon
The Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan is preparing to announce the name of the new head of state in the near future, the “Watan” newscast reported following the meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan.
According to the head of the CEC, Gulmyrat Myradov, the counting of votes is currently underway.
In preparation for the elections, 3 435 950 voters were registered, with a turnout of 97.12% of the total.
Early presidential elections in Turkmenistan were announced on March 12 after the announcement of the respected President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about his intention to give up his post to a younger leader and retain only the position of the head of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh.
