The regional seminar dedicated to the implementation of the “Lazurit” transit and transport corridor project was held in Ashgabat, reports the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The two-day briefing, held in a hybrid format, was organized by the OSCE Center, which initiated the development of a strategy and action plan for its implementation as part of the support to countries, that have signed the “Lazurit” Transit and Transport Agreement.
60 representatives from four countries, that signed the Agreement: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Turkey participated the seminar. Also, participated the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, Head of Component 3 of the UE-funded Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia and OSCE experts. The participants exchanged views and proposals for finalizing the strategy and action plan.
The OSCE Center will facilitate the process of revising the strategy and action plan, so that they become an integral part of the national development strategy of the countries, signed the Agreement.
The strategy is designed to contribute to the strengthening of regional economic integration and transport potential, a radical reduction in geographical distances through the reasonable use of all types of transport.
With this aim the participants of the seminar identified further actions to support partners along the “Lazurit” corridor in the full realization of their transport and transit potential.
