A Turkmenistan delegation headed by Parahat Jumayev, Director of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, currently on a working visit to Azerbaijan, held a meeting with Eldar Salakhov, Director of LLC “Baku International Sea Trade Port.”
During the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent times the strategic partnership between the two countries has been consistently strengthening, with particular attention paid to the development of logistical cooperation between the international seaports of Turkmenbashi and Baku (Alat). This cooperation is aimed at increasing cargo traffic across the Caspian Sea, developing the Middle Corridor, and expanding transport links between the two countries amid growing mutual trade.
As noted during the meeting, the main route connecting the two ports ensures the transshipment of oil, various types of cargo, and railway wagons. The Turkmenbashi port has become a major transport hub, while the Baku port in Alat continues to steadily expand its infrastructure, strengthening its role in both cargo and passenger transportation and occupying an important place along the modern route of the Great Silk Road.
The parties also discussed issues related to the development of the international Caspian Sea–Black Sea transit and transport corridor, including prospects for increasing cargo transportation through the ports of Turkmenbashi, Baku, Poti, Batumi, and Constanța. The importance of intensifying cooperation with all interested partners, including the European Union, was emphasized.
