State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028 approved

On 30 January, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyyev reported at a Government meeting on the measures being taken to digitalize all sectors of the economy and introduce innovative technologies into production. As reported, in accordance with the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028, approved by a Decree of the Head of State, a draft State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in the country and an Action Plan for its implementation have been prepared.

The implementation of the tasks outlined in these documents is intended to facilitate the transition to a digital economy, the development of a national strategy for artificial intelligence (AI), the application of AI-related technologies in various sectors, the training of specialists in this field, and the systematic improvement of their professional skills.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that activities are being carried out in the country to develop the digital system and to promote the widespread introduction of information and communication technologies. The Head of State signed the prepared document aimed at further developing the digital economy and, sending it via the digital system to the Deputy Prime Minister, issued a number of specific instructions for its implementation.
