At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on February 6, Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova reported on the results of parliamentary activities for the first month of the current year.
In this context, it was noted that at present, based on proposals received from ministries and sectoral agencies, work is underway to introduce amendments and additions to existing legislative acts in the areas of human rights and freedoms, migration, and environmental protection, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Turkmenistan and generally recognized norms of international law.
At the same time, the credentials of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to Turkmenistan were accepted. During the period under review, four meetings were held with representatives of parliaments of various countries, international organizations, and diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, during which the priorities of bilateral cooperation were discussed. In addition, deputies and specialists of the Mejlis participated in six seminars on improving legislative activities, organized by the relevant ministries and sectoral agencies of the country in cooperation with international structures.
Summarizing the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to continue work on strengthening the national legal framework and modernizing legislation in line with the requirements of the time.
