Turkmenistan and Thailand discuss possibility of intensifying high-level visits

On February 11, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Thailand (resident in Kuala Lumpur), Muhammetnyyaz Mashalov, and the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkeo.

The parties noted the need to intensify high-level visits between the two states. They expressed interest in developing a bilateral intergovernmental cooperation mechanism acceptable to both sides. The possibility of holding bilateral consultations in Bangkok this year at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs was also discussed, aimed at comprehensive consideration of current cooperation issues.

It was particularly emphasized that the King of Thailand expressed his intention to visit Turkmenistan. In this regard, the Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to jointly work on the organizational and protocol aspects of this visit.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular contacts between the foreign policy bodies of the two countries to further consistently strengthen bilateral cooperation.

On 13 February 2026, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Thai Chamber of Commerce between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Thailand (with residence in Kuala Lumpur) M.Mashalov and the Vice President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Mr.Supareak Chomchan.

During the discussion, the Turkmen side presented a brief overview of the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Among its priority areas are the creation of favorable conditions for business development, expansion of cooperation with state institutions, as well as the promotion of domestic goods and services to foreign markets.

It was emphasized that the Chamber actively supports national producers and exporters by facilitating their access to international markets and organizes international conferences and exhibitions both in Turkmenistan and abroad.

The Thai side congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed readiness to contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation.

On the same day, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand between Ambassador M.Mashalov and the Commissioner of the Thai Immigration Bureau, Police Lieutenant General Panumas Boonyalug.

The Thai side congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive support in matters of migration cooperation. The sides confirmed their intention to further develop cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two countries.

The Turkmen side proposed to intensify joint work in the field of migration. In particular, issues related to the prevention of illegal migration, combating related offenses, as well as creating appropriate conditions for persons in need of protection in accordance with international norms were discussed.

The importance of strengthening cooperation in this area with international organizations was also emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to maintain regular contacts in order to further develop bilateral cooperation in the field of migration.
