Turkmenistan's Consul in Astrakhan Gadam Ilamanov met with Vladimir Golovkov, Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan region. The parties discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Turkmen-Astrakhan Joint Council on Entrepreneurship.
The sides noted that 2025 was a period of strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties. According to Golovkov, the cargo turnover between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan grew by 38% over the year. Supplies of fish products increased fourfold, while exports of wheat flour more than tripled.
Imports of finished textile goods of Turkmen production into the region also grew fourfold.
During the meeting, attention was given to the development of the North–South international transport corridor, continuation of cooperation between the ports of the Astrakhan region and the port of Turkmenbashi, cooperation between shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises, as well as intermunicipal interaction between the twin cities of Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi.
