Inter-MFA political consultations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan held
Political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the consultations held on February 27 in Baku, the Turkmen delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Azerbaijani side was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as important aspects of the regional and international agenda. In particular, special attention was paid to developing political-diplomatic dialogue between the two countries, expanding trade and economic cooperation, strengthening ties in transport, logistics, and energy sectors, and enhancing cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The importance of inter-parliamentary partnership was specifically highlighted. The meeting also emphasized the key role of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation as an important mechanism for coordination and promotion of joint initiatives. In this regard, the development of interaction between business communities, the expansion of direct contacts between entrepreneurs, and the organization of exhibitions for national producers were identified as priority areas. The interlocutors particularly stressed the strategic potential of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in strengthening cooperation in the transport and transit sphere at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, and in implementing international transport corridor projects. The parties expressed interest in diversifying trade and economic relations and developing cooperation in new promising areas. They noted that cultural and humanitarian cooperation also plays a vital role. In this context, special importance was attached to expanding partnership in education and science, including the development of academic exchanges and strengthening relations between higher education institutions. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their interest in further deepening partnership relations and expressed readiness to continue constructive dialogue in all mutually beneficial areas.
