Since ancient times, the Great Silk Road ran through the territory of Turkmenistan, called "the crossroads of seven roads", connecting Asia and Europe by trade and cultural ties. And today our country, located at the intersection of modern transcontinental routes, revives in new historical conditions this legendary route, which played a huge role in the development of human civilization.
The transport and communication sphere is one of the key segments of the world economy and trade, directly affecting the stability and balance of world economic relations, is of great importance in solving the problems of sustainable development. Therefore, the relevance and relevance of the constructive initiatives of the head of state, which have received broad support from the world community, is obvious, as is clearly evidenced by the relevant Resolutions, unanimously adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Reading the extremely favorable geographical location of Turkmenistan - at the crossroads of the Eurasian routes of communication - and the potential in this area, one of the priorities of the state policy of an independent neutral Motherland is the development of a multimodal transport and transit infrastructure that meets international standards and includes all types of transport, including air.
To this end, under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, large-scale work is being carried out in our country to improve the material and technical base of civil aviation, regularly replenish its aircraft fleet, train highly qualified specialists for the industry, modernize existing and build new air harbors.
Recall that in 2010 and 2018, international airports in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Turkmenabat were commissioned. In 2016, a new complex of Ashgabat International Airport was opened. And last month, the International Airport was commissioned in the city of Kerki, Lebap velayat. And today the start of the construction of another modern air harbor in the Balkan velayat has been launched, which is assigned the role of an important link in regional and interregional transport and transit communications.
As a result of the implementation of the progressive strategy of the leader of the nation, Turkmenistan is confidently strengthening its position as the most important transport hub and logistics center of regional and continental importance. Effective steps are being taken to solve the tasks set by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the consistent integration of the domestic transport network into the world transport system, expanding the national infrastructure in the East-West and North-South directions. In general, this is intended to contribute to the further activation and optimization of freight and passenger traffic, diversification of their routes.
Thus, our country seeks to realize its impressive potential in this area in order to build up a mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership that meets the interests of the well-being and sustainable development of the region and the whole world.

On the eve of the 30th anniversary of sacred independence, our Motherland is demonstrating great success and reaching new frontiers, which is fully confirmed by the results of the past six months. For six months of this jubilee year, 32 large objects, many modern comfortable residential buildings, schools, kindergartens and other important new buildings have been built and commissioned in the country, the leader of the nation said. Among them are the Kerki International Airport of the Lebap velayat and the “Türkmeniň ak öýi” building in Turkmenabat, and a number of other structures.
Currently, the construction of about two and a half thousand objects with a total value of more than 37 billion US dollars continues in Turkmenistan. These works are carried out in order to ensure the prosperous life of the people, the further prosperity of an independent neutral Motherland, its transformation into one of the advanced states of the world, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
The modern buildings and structures of social and state importance put into operation in honor of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, being symbols of progressive economic development and building the potential of our beloved Motherland, transform the image of our sunny land beyond recognition, the leader of the nation noted. This testifies to the consistent implementation of the policy implemented in Turkmenistan, based on the fundamental principle "The state is for the person!"
And today, in a solemn atmosphere in the village of Jebel in the Balkan velayat, we are laying the foundation for a new international airport complex with a capacity of 100 passengers per hour, the head of state continued. The construction of this complex, the contractor of which will be determined on the basis of a tender, is financed through a Loan Agreement concluded between the Government of our country and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund. This is a vivid confirmation of the success of close mutually beneficial economic relations of neutral Turkmenistan with foreign states, its high international authority as a reliable partner.
The total area of the new airport, where about two hundred employees will work, will be 275 hectares. According to the project, the complex includes a number of facilities, including a passenger and cargo terminals, a control center, a rescue and fire fighting service building. A modern artificial runway with a length of 3,200 meters, two taxiways and a parking lot for six aircraft and four
helicopters.
The structure of the complex will include a specialized airfield and ground handling facilities for air liners; in total, 15 main structures will be erected. For ground handling of aircraft, it is planned to equip the new airport with 45 types of special equipment.
Thus, in three years, a modern airport will be built on this site. Various aircraft will take off and land here. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized, the new complex of the international airport, the foundation of which we are laying today, will be of great importance in strengthening the material and technical base of the domestic civil aviation. It is intended to play an important role in increasing the volume of passenger and cargo traffic in air transport, in the further economic development of the country, in providing the people with services that meet the requirements of the times.
As the head of state noted further, today in the velayat center - the city of Balkanabat - a modern building "Türkmeniň ak öýi" and a room for a sadak for 3 thousand seats will be opened in a solemn atmosphere. Türkmeniň ak öýi, intended for holding significant forums and various public events, will further decorate the western region. This magnificent building will become a center where all the conditions for organizing celebrations on the occasion of significant events, holidays, incendiary song and musical performances and horse games are provided.

Having handed Akhan as a gift to the group of national equestrian games "Galkynyş", the President of Turkmenistan opened the way for new successes of this horse. As part of this group, he traveled to many countries, contributing to the achievement of victories at international festivals.
According to the established tradition, the concert program also included the ancient dance of kushtdepdi, symbolically embodying the inextricable spiritual connection of times and generations in a new historical era.
