Meeting of the State Security Council was held in Turkmenistan
On April 1, President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a regular meeting of the State Security Council, at which the results of the work of the military and law enforcement agencies over the past three months were summarized. The meeting also addressed issues related to ensuring security and stability in our independent state, strengthening the material and technical base of law enforcement structures, and further improving their activities. The first to speak was the Secretary of the State Security Council and Minister of Defense, Begench Gundogdyyev, who reported on the work carried out since the beginning of the year to successfully achieve the objectives outlined in the Turkmenistan Armed Forces Development Program. Additionally, a report was presented on measures taken to improve service and living conditions for defenders of the homeland, enhance officer qualifications, as well as the process of discharging conscripted servicemen and the latest recruitment of citizens for military service. Next, the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies presented reports on the results of work carried out over the first three months of 2026 within their respective structures, on the fulfillment of previously given directives, and on measures being taken to improve the functioning of the relevant departments. Summarizing the reports, the Head of State instructed that effective measures continue to be taken to ensure security and protect the national interests of the country. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that, in accordance with the Military Doctrine—which is purely defensive in nature—comprehensive measures are being implemented to maintain a high level of security and territorial integrity of our independent, permanently neutral homeland, strengthen its defense capability, and improve the social and living conditions of servicemen and their families. It was emphasized that work in these areas will continue. Source: online newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden age”
