Turkmenistan and Japan outline steps to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation

On April 1, 2026, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with the newly elected Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship League, Shinpei Matsushita.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of previously reached agreements and issues concerning key areas, in particular, the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to hold an inter-parliamentary forum in the format “Central Asia + Japan” in Ashgabat.
Proposals were also exchanged on developing inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, strengthening ties between political parties, and maintaining relations at a high level in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
