Turkmenistan and Georgia show interest in implementing transport and logistics projects
As part of an official visit to Georgia on March 31, 2026, the Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev, held a meeting with the management of the Port of Poti. Noting the positive dynamics of Turkmen-Georgian relations, the parties emphasized that one of the main areas of bilateral partnership is transport and logistics. In this context, both sides expressed interest in the implementation and development of projects such as the Caspian Sea–Black Sea international transport-transit corridors, the Lapis Lazuli corridor, as well as “Green Ports.” During the meeting, the parties also discussed opportunities to increase cargo turnover, further improve multimodal logistics solutions, introduce modern technologies to speed up the handling of transit cargo, and enhance coordination between railway and maritime carriers. Prospects for integrating the Turkmenbashi and Poti ports into the “East-West” international transport routes were also considered. Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience in port terminal management and the consideration of opportunities for joint investment projects.
