During a visit to the Azerbaijan on April 1, 2026, meetings were held in Baku between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyyev, and the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev; the Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov; the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Rovshan Rustamov; and the Director of Baku International Sea Trade Port LLC, Eldar Salahov. During the meetings, a wide range of issues was discussed, including: development of existing transport corridors between the two countries; expansion of cooperation between the seaports of both states, full utilization of port capacities, and an increase in cargo transportation volumes; joint work on transit corridor projects and activation of international transport and transit routes passing through the territories of the two countries; discussion of the possibility of organizing a business forum and product exhibitions in Ashgabat and Baku. In addition, the parties discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission scheduled for this year, as well as measures to increase trade and turnover between the two countries.
