On April 7, Turkmenistan marked World Health Day. The participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the mass bike ride held for the occasion served as a vivid demonstration of Turkmenistan’s consistent promotion of sports diplomacy as one of the key conditions for peace and sustainable development, according to the online newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden age".

In the morning, participants gathered at the “Bicycle” monument, the starting point of the bike marathon route. Among them were the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and sectoral agencies, the mayor of Ashgabat, representatives of public organizations, media, as well as rectors of higher education institutions. The marathon also included heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.

After giving the signal to start the mass bike ride, the head of state led the column of participants. Following the example of the President of Turkmenistan, everyone began moving along the avenues of the white-marble capital – Chandybil and Bitarap Turkmenistan.

During the cycling event, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as always, demonstrated excellent physical fitness and athletic preparation, practically confirming the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.

The mass bike ride for World Health Day concluded in the city center, near the Ruhyýet Palace.

Addressing the participants at this location, the head of state emphasized the need to continue comprehensive work to engage the broader population, especially youth, in regular physical culture and sports, as well as to strengthen the principles of a healthy lifestyle in society.

It should be noted that on the occasion of World Health Day, mass bike rides were organized not only in Ashgabat but also in Arkadag city and in all provinces of the country.
