Italy Appoints new Ambassador to Turkmenistan

Italy has appointed a new Ambassador to Turkmenistan. Diplomat Martin Brook presented copies of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, in Ashgabat. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties confirmed the progressive nature of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of regular contacts at the highest and high levels for strengthening mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries. In this regard, the significance of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic in October 2025 was highlighted.

The sides reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Italian cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They also underlined the positive experience of cooperation at international platforms, primarily within the framework of the United Nations.

In the context of developing interstate cooperation in the humanitarian field, the importance of the archaeological exhibition “Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan,” held last year in Rome, was noted.

The parties also expressed support for continuing the practice of holding business forums with the participation of leading business circles of the two countries.
