The seventh meeting of the Turkmen–Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held

On April 16, the seventh meeting of the Turkmen–Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. This was reported by the online newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden age”.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of trade and economic relations. For many years, China has been one of Turkmenistan’s largest foreign trade partners. In this context, the sides discussed opportunities for diversifying trade turnover, expanding the range of export-oriented goods, and creating favorable conditions for cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

The energy sector was identified as a priority area of interstate cooperation. Turkmenistan, possessing vast reserves of natural gas, considers the People’s Republic of China a long-term and strategic partner in the gas industry. Members of the Committee discussed the implementation of existing agreements and prospects for increasing energy export volumes within the framework of the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline project.

The discussions also addressed other areas of cooperation. In particular, taking into account the growing needs of the modern railway system, including freight transportation and the increasing importance of the sector, a number of proposals were presented for the modernization of railway infrastructure and the development of relevant projects.

Logistics projects were also discussed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of transport and logistics initiatives, and proposals were made to work on new projects and modernize existing systems. In this regard, it is worth noting proposals for joint activities at the Garlyk field in Lebap velayat, with relevant projects being put forward.

Following the meeting, a package of documents was signed aimed at giving new impetus to the implementation of the reached agreements and further strengthening productive cooperation.
