Ashgabat marks the 20th anniversary of strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the PRC in the gas sector

On April 16, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Turkmenistan–People’s Republic of China: 20 Years of Strategic Partnership in the Gas Sector” was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This was reported by the online newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

As noted in the speeches of Turkmen representatives, systematic work is being carried out to modernize the infrastructure of the fuel and energy complex based on advanced technologies and innovative developments, to increase hydrocarbon production and processing capacities, and to expand natural gas export routes.

At present, the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China is gaining new substance. In this context, the fuel and energy sector serves as a key area of bilateral cooperation.

The development of the next stage of the «Galkynyş» gas field, one of the largest in the world, as well as the construction of additional branches of the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline, demonstrate that joint energy projects will continue to serve as a strong foundation for sustainable development and economic stability in the region.

Subsequently, the floor was given to Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

The guest highly appreciated the historical significance of the conference, emphasizing that cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the gas sector is one of the most exemplary and stable forms of strategic partnership in the modern world.

Ding Xuexiang further stressed that Turkmenistan is China’s largest and most reliable partner in natural gas supplies, highlighting the significant contribution of the transnational gas pipeline to the economic growth of both countries.

In conclusion, the First Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC expressed confidence that bilateral energy cooperation would continue to develop actively for the benefit of the peoples of Turkmenistan and China.

After the plenary session, a signing ceremony was held between the State concern “Türkmengaz” and “CNPC Amudarya Petroleum Company Ltd.” on the design and construction on a turnkey basis of facilities for the production of 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, as well as production wells ensuring the achievement of this output within the fourth phase of development of the «Galkynyş» gas field.
