On April 20-21, an international forum titled "Countering Transnational Drug Threats for the Health and Safety of Society" was held in Samarkand. A Turkmen delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan Ovezgeldi Kakalyyev participated in the event. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

As noted, this international event was organized by the Agency for Drug and Firearms Control under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

During the forum, participants discussed current global and regional situations regarding illicit drug trafficking, the development of prevention measures among youth, treatment and social reintegration systems, and the implementation of solutions based on digital technologies and artificial intelligence to combat drug threats. Special attention was paid to strengthening international cooperation in this field.
