Speaking on April 22 at the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented strategic initiatives to ensure the environmental security of Central Asia. The Head of State drew special attention to the importance of implementing innovative technologies to combat climate change in the region. This was reported by the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."
As one of the most significant steps in this direction, it was announced that the UN Regional Center for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia will soon begin its operations in Ashgabat. This center, a practical result of Turkmenistan's international environmental initiatives, will serve as the primary foundation for the most modern scientific and technological solutions for the entire region.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive approach to the Aral issue. As the Head of State noted, the Aral problem cannot be considered in isolation from critical environmental threats such as desertification, melting glaciers, and the efficient management of transboundary water resources.
Such a unified approach is a determining factor for ensuring the socio-economic development and stability of the region. The newly established regional center will help harmonize national and regional efforts in this field and strengthen the coordinated work of foreign policy agencies.
