At the regular meeting of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held via the digital system on April 24, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
As noted, deepening partnerships with the Asia-Pacific states is one of the key directions of the foreign policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented a number of proposals taking into account the important role of Asia-Pacific countries in contemporary world politics, Turkmenistan’s relations with them, and the rich experience of cooperation accumulated during the years of independence.
Considering that one of the important tasks of the foreign policy implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is the further development of cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as in order to expand Turkmenistan’s diplomatic representation in these countries, it was proposed that the Ambassadors of Turkmenistan to the Republic of India and Malaysia be concurrently appointed as Ambassadors to the Republic of Maldives and the State of Brunei Darussalam, respectively.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the country is consistently developing diplomatic relations with states around the world, including the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Approving the submitted proposals on further strengthening cooperation with these countries, the Head of State instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to carry out the relevant work.
