Delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian countries held in Tashkent. This was reported by the International Information Center of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side emphasized that cooperation among trade union organizations in the region has gained qualitatively new content in recent years. Representatives of Turkmenistan reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of positive neutrality and equal partnership. It was noted that in order to implement large-scale socio-economic objectives, the region needs to preserve unity and mutual understanding.
According to reports, during the session a decision was adopted to transform the council into a confederation. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan became members of the new confederation, while Turkmenistan retained its observer status.
